Wedding Next Door

Recently, on 2nd September 2007, we had a wedding in our housing area. Our neighbour's daughter got married. Being their eldest daughter's wedding, the event was rather grand...right from Friday nite till Sunday.

Friday night was just the men getting together chit chatting while boiling some water for the Saturday event.

Saturday started with a small kenduri Aqiqah for their first grandson from their eldest son who got married lst year, with the traditional malay berandoi and Marhaban. Makan is the order of the day with pulut kuning and sambal tumis for breakfast and rice for lunch. That evening, the daughter's ijab kabul was done at the nearby mosque of our qariah.

Sunday was the wedding day itself with guests coming in their best outfit...like fashion parade. Unfortunately, it rained heavily at about 1pm when guests were coming. Even the berarak had to be delayed.

Its nice to have these kenduri where neighbours can mingle and keep in touch with each other where on normal days, everyone is so busy with daily lives...work and so on.

These are some of the pics Pa managed to capture while helping out at the kitchen area.

The backlane as cooking area

Meanwhile, the 'chicken' team is still frying them chicken

Finally, the ladies setting the dishes

Soon, the tired eyes sets in....time for my exit from the kenduri

At the end of the day, its cleaning time for all. Pa joined the men to clean the kitchen area. Another wedding should be coming end of this year...another neighbour's daughter. Hmmm...and I am hardly 1 year old.
